BSCW implements RSS 2.0 news feeds which external RSS aggregators may poll for RSS formatted news items. BSCW’s RSS news feeds render an RSS news channel of all recent BSCW events which have happened in a user’s folder (and its subfolders). Events of different categories are not distinguished, i.e. the news feeds contain read events as well as create events etc.
BSCW will not display documents or other data stored via RSS. A BSCW RSS news feed is merely meant to provide online information on what is going on in one of your workspaces. It is a supplement to the daily workspace activity report or the BSCW JMonitor’s online event tracker.
BSCW does not send the entire history of events to RSS news aggregators. The event history is restricted to a limited time span, e.g. six hours from the moment you are calling. The exact duration of this period is part of the BSCW server configuration. Your RSS news aggregator keeps track of what BSCW events you have already read or deleted and knows how to properly display BSCW events.
Using an external RSS news aggregator, you must authenticate with BSCW (using your BSCW user name and password) to be able to receive BSCW RSS news items.
