Desktop Widgets

Desktop widgets provide the same functions as the widgets of your personal portal (see 3.4.1 Personal portal). They do not, however, run inside a browser window, but on the desktop of your PC. With a desktop widget you can, e.g., navigate in your BSCW folders or keep informed about BSCW events without having to open your Web browser. For the dis­play of BSCW contents, e.g. a folder listing or document, the desktop widgets make use of the Web browser and the standard user interface.

System requirements

Desktop widgets require the installation of Adobe AIR, Version 2.0 and up as well as a storage capacity of at least 512 kB RAM (1 GB recommended). They run on

o  Windows: Microsoft Windows XP Home, Professional or Tablet PC Edition with Ser­vice Pack 3, Windows Server 2003 or 2008, Windows Vista Home Pre­mium, Busi­ness, Ultimate or Enterprise (including 64 Bit) with Service Pack 2 or Windows 7,

and

o  MacOS: Mac OS X, Version 10.4.9 and up.
