Before using the BSCW server, please check the version and configuration of your browser.
•To use BSCW, a current version of one of the popular browsers is required. BSCW works best with the following versions:
o Chrome,
o Edge (Internet Explorer 11 with restrictions),
o Firefox,
o Opera.
o Safari,
•Make sure that the clock on your computer is set correctly. Otherwise there may be problems with synchronization between the BSCW server and the pages in your local cache.
•BSCW uses JavaScript, cookies. For BSCW to work properly you have to configure your web browser to enable JavaScript and accept cookies. BSCW cookies are used for authentication purposes only and are valid for one BSCW session only.
Most popular browsers support Javascript, including those listed above.
Provided that documents downloaded from your workspaces can be displayed by your Web browser (possibly with the help of previously installed plug-ins), you do not need to change the configuration of your browser to be able to use BSCW.
However, if you want to share documents in specific application formats with other members of a workspace (that is, file formats that require a specific application, such as WordPerfect, Excel, or Photoshop), you should configure your browser to evaluate the file type of downloaded files and open the files with the correct program depending on the type. How you need to do this depends on the platform and browser you are using. Please consult the manual of your browser.
If you do not adjust your browser in this way, it will ask you for the desired action for every file it cannot display. If you are using a newer browser, it will offer to establish a fixed relationship between the file type and the program you have chosen for it, which it will fall back on when a file of that type is submitted again.
