Positioning a workspace in the folder hierarchy

There is a default position that BSCW uses for shared workspaces that have not yet been assigned a position in the folder hierarchy by the user: the top level in your personal workspace ('home folder'). This affects workspaces to which you have just been invited as a new member. This is independent of the position this folder has in the respective folder hierarchy of the other group members.

For example, if a folder B contained in a workspace A is itself converted into a shared workspace by inviting additional members to B, the position of workspace B in the original workspace A does not change for the members of workspace A. For the new members of workspace B, it appears in the top level of their respective personal workspaces.

You can move a shared workspace to another workspace simply by dragNDrop. This moving of the whole workspace is not visible for the other members, unlike moving objects within the workspace.

When you move a shared workspace to another shared workspace, it has consequences for workspace membership, which we cover in the following section.
