Flow folders are folders with special functionality: With a flow folder, you can emulate a business process in which documents follow a specific processing flow and are passed from one user to the next user for processing. Each flow folder is assigned a set of tasks that are to be completed by the designated users in the specified order. Flow folders can contain objects of all possible types, e.g. other folders, documents or discussion forums.
A flow folder follows its processing flow by being forwarded. The flow folder and thus the documents or other objects it contains are forwarded to the users in the task list in sequence. The processing flow of the flow folder can - depending on how it is defined - also branch to one of several stations after processing a task, thereby leaving the processing user the choice of which user the flow folder should be forwarded to next.
A flow folder is accessible to the currently responsible editor via his personal task list. After forwarding, the flow folder disappears from this list and the agent then only has access to the flow folder if he or she is also a member of the flow folder - flow folders are also workspaces that can have several members.
Independent of the current processing station, the members of the flow folder can inform themselves about its status, change the content as well as the tasks and also forward the flow folder for their part if the currently responsible processor does not react.
