Register additional email address

If you have more than one email address that you use in different contexts (e.g. business and private), you may be asked to register again on your BSCW server because someone has invited you to a workspace. This is because another user of your BSCW server has invited you under an email address that is not the same one under which you are registered as user.

In such a case you have two options: You can register under a new username that you want to use for this your email address (this is of course possible without invitation by other users!). You may also combine your different email addresses under one user account. Then your BSCW server knows your different email addresses and when you are invited via one of your email addresses, your username will always be assigned.

So if you receive a message to one of your additional email addresses asking you to register to your BSCW server, please repeat the registration procedure. If you want to register the new email address as an additional address under your old username, enter exactly the username under which you are already registered and your current password. BSCW will then send you an e-mail message with the URL of a form (usable only once!) to the new address. In this form you may confirm that you want to register a secondary e-mail address for your username by entering your password.

However, you can also register additional email addresses under your username without having received an invitation.

Select  Personal profile in the main menu and enter an additional address in the 'Additional email address' field in the 'Personal data' tab under 'Email'.

For this additional address, the above abbreviated registration procedure will be run to ensure that the association of the additional email address with your username is valid. You can repeat this procedure for additional addresses.

Registering additional email addresses is also useful if you want to send documents to a workspace from different email addresses. In these cases, BSCW will then be able to correctly assign your username to each of the specified addresses.

Regardless of the registration of additional email addresses, BSCW will continue to use your primary email address to send you e.g. the regular email report about activities in your workspaces. This address will also be displayed on your user info page.

If you have registered multiple email addresses, you can convert your primary email address,

by selecting  Personal profile in the main menu and selecting the desired address from the displayed list of your registered addresses in the 'Personal data' tab of the action form under 'E-mail' in the 'Primary email address' field.
