Setting the default options for notification

Depending on your BSCW installation, different event services are available that may be configured individually.

Event icons indicate events on the user interface.

The regular email report contains events and microblog messages of the previous day or week for all your workspaces.

Instant email informs you directly about relevant events or specific microblog messages.

To specify about which types of events (new, changed, moved, read object) you want to be notified with which event services,

      Select  Settings the main menu.

The 'Settings' action form offers a 'Notifications' tab with the subsections 'Active Event Services', 'Subscribed Event Types' and 'Microblog Messages' where you may set your default options. The subsection 'Microblog Messages' only appears if microblogging is enabled for your BSCW server.

In the subsection 'Active event services' you can tick those event services you want to use. For the regular email report, you can select daily or weekly and additionally specify whether you also want to be notified about events and microblog messages that you have caused or published yourself. Such events and messages are in principle not transmitted via the other listed event services.

In the 'Subscribed event types' subsection you can tick for each activated event service those event types about which the respective service should notify you.

The default options apply to all objects in your workspaces unless you have changed the notification options at the object level.

Note: The selected options for notification about microblog messages are valid for all microblogs. There is no way to change these options for microblogs in specific workspaces, for example.

You can change the default options at any time, e.g. to disable an entire event service or to exclude read events from the regular email report. While changes to the event types in the default options do not affect the event options set individually at the object level, disabling an event service also applies to the individual event options. Thus, the default options provide a central location to enable and disable an entire event service. If you want to take individual settings into account when deactivating an event service, do not deactivate the event service itself, but all event types of this service in the standard options.

Please note that certain services may not be installed on your BSCW server and consequently not offered at setup.

Warning: Subscribing to direct email notification for an object that may contain other objects may result in numerous email messages being delivered to your primary email address.
