Shared folders

The central concept of BSCW is the shared workspace, i.e. a folder with a specific group of users - represented by the group icon  who can access the objects in this folder and contribute new objects.

BSCW works with folders as you know them from the operating system of your computer. As a registered user of a BSCW server you may create new private folders. Additionally, BSCW allows you to invite further users to each folder and thus share the data of the folder and all subfolders with others.

The user interface is shown in Figure 1: Overview BSCW7 user interface BSCW displays the contents of a folder or a workspace in the center part. Above this is a header part that contains the members of the current folder, the folder path and general notification and function buttons. On the left side the navigation tree is displayed and below it the personal task list. The right side shows the messages at the top and the tasks of the current workspace below them.

Chapter 4.1 The standard user interface explains the structure of the folder page in detail.
