You can assign values to the metadata attributes of an object during creation by entering values in the fields provided in the 'Attributes' tab of the action form. If this tab does not appear in the action form, the object type in question has an empty or no metadata profile.
You can also assign values to an object's metadata attributes or modify existing values after creation.
• Select in the context menu of the object in question
and go to the 'Attributes' tab of the action form. There you can enter, change
or delete values. Any existing grouping of the attributes is indicated by
enclosing the group in a separate box and placing an optional group name above
it.
• For some attributes, multiple values can be specified by clicking on to
the right of
the input field. By clicking on to the
right of the field of a multiple
value, you can delete it again.
• With [Reset Attributes] you can delete all values displayed in the 'Attributes' tab.
Metadata attributes with values are displayed below the
description of an object in the folder overview. If the view settings are set so
that no descriptions are displayed or only in compact form, the attributes
appear as a tooltip of the icon or the one-line
description.
The info page of an object shows the attributes provided with values, specifying the name of the underlying metadata profile and, if applicable, the names of attribute groups (example "Dublin Core").
When copying objects, the metadata attributes are also copied.
When searching for objects in BSCW, you may use all metadata attributes (see 4.7.3 The search form). The search form offers to use these attributes in search criteria.
Wikis also allow you to display metadata attributes of
individual objects and object tables with selected metadata. You may also filter
wiki content displays by the values of specific metadata attributes (see 8.7.5 Use text elements and 8.7.4 Use BSCW elements). For these operations you need
to know the internal identifiers of metadata attrib-utes that are not specified
on the info page of metadata profiles. For example, the metadata attribute
'tags' is identified by the identifier bscw:keywords
.
You get a complete list of metadata identifiers of a metadata profile, including the custom attributes,
• by calling
in the context menu of a metadata profile. The identifiers are displayed as a
text file, one identifier per line.
