The Advanced Search allows you to combine multiple search queries or save search results as a folder to share with others or quickly rerun later. This allows you to create different views of your data. You open the advanced search from the full text search form. See Figure 45: BSCW search form .
Combine different search queries or search criteria in blocks. The order in which criteria and expressions are executed can be changed by holding down the mouse button and dragging the corresponding block to the desired position using the icon. In this way you can also move a criterion or expression inside another expression or from another expression to a higher level.
When you are done editing your search query,
• click [OK] to start the search. The search results are displayed in a temporary search folder.
Please note that searching the
contents of documents only includes plain text and HTML documents (MIME type
text/plain
and text/html
) if no indexing service
is installed on your BSCW server. You may recognize this by the fact that the
drop-down menu does not offer a quick search for
documents as a search expression. Otherwise contact your BSCW administrator.
Search folders represent a separate object type in BSCW that allows some special actions. For example, you may repeat the search with a modified query and save the search results permanently by saving the temporary search folder as a permanent search folder somewhere in your folder hierarchy. Permanent search folders allow you, for example, to repeat the search at a later time (see 4.7.5).
Open the context menu of the search folder to save the result of an advanced search as a folder

Note: This option is only available after performing an Advanced Search (see Advanced search).
